Dr. Abdul Karim Sesay is the Head of Genomics at the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia (MRCG), recognized as the driving force behind the newly launched genomic center of excellence. His leadership has established MRCG as the first certified Oxford Nanopore service provider in Africa and has been instrumental in enhancing the country’s genomic surveillance capabilities, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
