Dr John Magufuli

Dr John Magufuli was the fifth President of Tanzania, serving from 2015 until his death in 2021. Known for his no-nonsense approach to governance and anti-corruption stance, he earned the nickname 'The Bulldozer' for his drive to implement major infrastructure projects and reforms. A member of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party, Magufuli previously served as Minister of Works. His presidency was marked by significant economic growth, but also faced criticism for curtailing political freedoms and dissent.
