Dr Najibullah

Dr Najibullah was the last General Secretary of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan, serving from 1986 until the fall of his government in 1992. His tenure was marked by significant conflict during the Soviet-Afghan War and the subsequent civil war, where he attempted to maintain a socialist regime amidst rising opposition from various mujahideen factions. Najibullah's administration was notable for its reliance on Soviet support, and he famously sought to stabilize Afghanistan by promoting a policy of national reconciliation. After his regime fell, he was captured and executed by the Taliban, marking a tragic end to his political career and highlighting the tumultuous history of Afghanistan during the late 20th century.
