Dr Verghese Kurien (1921-2012) was an Indian cooperative dairy engineer and social entrepreneur, widely recognized as the architect of the White Revolution in India, which transformed the country into the world's largest milk producer. He played a pivotal role in establishing the cooperative model for dairy farming, leading to the creation of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), known for its Amul brand. His innovative approach and commitment to empowering farmers through cooperatives not only improved milk production but also uplifted rural economies, making him a key figure in India's agricultural and economic development.
