Drăgan Muntean

Drăgan Muntean (1955-2002) was a renowned Romanian folk artist, celebrated as the 'voice' of the Ținutul Pădurenilor, a picturesque mountainous region in western Romania. His music, deeply rooted in the local traditions, captured the essence of rural life and resonated with the experiences of the community. Muntean's most famous song, 'Sara bună, bade Ioane,' poignantly reflects the solitude of the elderly left behind in the village. After his untimely death at age 47, his birthplace in Poienița Voinii became the only museum in the region, showcasing traditional Pădurean objects and costumes. His legacy continues to be honored through festivals celebrating local folklore in his name.
