Duarte Barbosa

Duarte Barbosa was a 16th-century Portuguese army officer and explorer, known for his detailed accounts of the cultures and societies he encountered in the Indian Ocean region between 1516 and 1518. His manuscript, which had been lost for nearly a century, offers a unique perspective on Portuguese colonial history and has been recognized for its honest portrayal of interactions between Portuguese and Arab peoples.
