Eamonn Cunnane

Detective Garda Eamonn Cunnane is an Irish police officer who gained national attention after being investigated for loaning an unclaimed bicycle to a vulnerable neighbor during the Covid-19 pandemic. His act of kindness, intended to assist an elderly and isolated man, led to a lengthy inquiry by the Garda that resulted in his suspension and claims of institutional mistreatment. Cunnane has since sought judicial review to challenge the findings of the inquiry, citing mental and physical deterioration as a result of the investigation.
