
Eddie Mardjoeki Nalapraya
Eddie Mardjoeki Nalapraya was a prominent Indonesian military officer and martial arts leader, best known for his significant contributions to the promotion and preservation of pencak silat, a traditional Indonesian martial art. Born on June 6, 1931, he served as the Chairman of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) from 1981 to 2003, during which he helped establish pencak silat on the international stage, including its recognition as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. Nalapraya also held the position of Deputy Governor of Jakarta from 1984 to 1987. He passed away at the age of 93 on May 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy as a dedicated advocate for Indonesian culture and martial arts.
