Edilberto Villar Molina
Edilberto Villar Molina was a Peruvian military pilot who gained notoriety as the sole survivor of the tragic 1987 Alianza Lima plane crash, which claimed the lives of nearly all players and staff aboard a Fokker F-27 aircraft. On December 8, 1987, during a flight back to Lima following a match, Villar lost control of the aircraft shortly before landing, resulting in a catastrophic plunge into the sea near Callao. Despite the harrowing experience, he managed to survive in the frigid waters until rescue, later recounting his struggle to save the trapped players, including the famous Alfredo Tomassini.
