Eduárd Volodimirovics Pukánics

Eduárd Volodimirovics Pukánics, born in 1987 in Velîka Bakta, Ukraine, is a former politician turned lawyer who made headlines for a dramatic escape from Ukraine to Hungary. After being mobilized into the Ukrainian army on June 23, 2023, he drove through the border barrier into Hungary, injuring a border policeman in the process. Pukánics has a background as a member of the Front for Change party and served on the city council of Beregszász, where he was a political rival to the local mayor.
