Eduardo Amaral

Eduardo Amaral, affectionately known as Dudu, is a 2-year-old boy from Patos de Minas, Minas Gerais, who has garnered international attention due to his diagnosis of a rare genetic disorder called Spastic Paraplegia Type 50 (SPG50). His family's successful fundraising campaign raised €2.8 million for his treatment, which will also benefit other children with the same condition. Dudu's case is particularly significant as he and another infant are the first diagnosed with SPG50 in Brazil, highlighting the urgent need for research and treatment for this rare disease.
