Edward Seymour
Edward Seymour was the Duke of Somerset and the first Lord Protector of England during the reign of his nephew, King Edward VI. Appointed to govern on behalf of the young king after the death of Henry VIII, Seymour played a crucial role in advancing the Protestant Reformation in England. His tenure was marked by significant reforms in religious practices, which faced resistance and led to political unrest. Despite his initial power, Seymour's influence waned, and he was eventually overthrown and executed in 1552.
