Edwin Lokubandara Hurulle

Edwin Lokubandara Hurulle, born on January 19, 1919, was a prominent Sri Lankan politician who served as the Minister of Transport in the government of Prime Minister Dudley Senanayake. He played a significant role in the development of the country's transportation infrastructure, introducing diesel-powered locomotives and jet aircraft to Sri Lanka. Hurulle was also instrumental in establishing the Central Cultural Fund and promoting archaeological excavations in Sri Lanka. He held various political positions, including that of a Member of Parliament and Governor of the Central Province, and was dedicated to enhancing Sri Lankan cultural identity and heritage throughout his career.
