Ekkalak Paenoi

Ekkalak Paenoi is a Thai national who gained notoriety for the assassination of Cambodian opposition politician Lim Kimya in January 2023. After fatally shooting Lim in Bangkok, Ekkalak fled to Cambodia but was arrested and subsequently deported. Initially sentenced to death, his penalty was commuted to life imprisonment following his confession. The case has been surrounded by suspicions of political motivations, reflecting the climate of repression faced by opposition figures in Cambodia.
