
Eleanor Dare
Eleanor Dare was one of the early settlers of the Roanoke Colony and the daughter of John White, the colony's governor. She became notable for being one of the first English women to give birth in the New World, having a daughter named Virginia Dare, who was the first English child born in America. Her disappearance along with the other colonists has been a central mystery in American history.
