Eleonora Saccardo Rasi, also known as Sister Marie Xavier, was a Padovan nun born in 1905 who survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Living in Japan at the time, she witnessed the explosion and immediately dedicated herself to caring for the wounded, becoming a vital witness to the event and its aftermath. She spent decades serving those affected by the nuclear disaster before passing away in Italy at the age of 84.
