Elías Solís González

Elías Solís González is a prominent Panamanian lawyer and politician, recently elected as one of the independent experts on the United Nations Committee against Enforced Disappearances. He has a distinguished academic background, holding degrees in Law and Political Science, along with master's degrees in Administrative Law, Commercial Law, and Criminal Sciences. Since 2019, he has served as the president of the Panamanian Red Cross and has actively participated in the National Permanent Commission for the Application of International Humanitarian Law. His new role in the UN committee will involve monitoring the implementation of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, which Panama ratified in 2011, with a focus on preventing and eradicating forced disappearances.
