Elizabeth Grace Veatch

Dr. Elizabeth Grace Veatch is a paleoanthropologist and research associate in the Human Origins Program at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History. She focuses on the evolution of the human diet and the interactions between early humans and animals. Recently, she led a study that challenged previous assumptions about Homo floresiensis, suggesting that these prehistoric relatives likely scavenged rather than hunted, and did not use fire for cooking.
