Elizabeth von Arnim

Elizabeth von Arnim (1866-1941) was an English novelist born in Australia, originally named Mary Ann Buesst. She adopted the name Elizabeth early in her career and took on the surname von Arnim from her first marriage to a Prussian aristocrat. Over her lifetime, she published approximately 20 books, achieving significant success during her era. Her most famous work, 'The Enchanted April,' has been adapted for stage and film multiple times, and has recently experienced a revival of interest in England. The novel explores themes of female friendship and the quest for self-discovery against the backdrop of a beautiful Italian villa.
