Elvia Chávez

Elvia Chávez is the current head of the Specialized Environmental Unit of the Public Ministry in Asunción, Paraguay. Recently in the news for her inspection of neighborhoods such as Tablada, Trinidad, and Virgen de Fátima, she assessed severe environmental contamination caused by local frigoríficos (meat processing plants). Her visit highlighted the unhealthy living conditions in these densely populated areas, where residents have long suffered from the effects of pollution and hazardous industrial practices, including ammonia leaks. Chávez has recently taken on her role and plans to announce specific measures to address the environmental issues in these communities.
