Emil Brunner (1908–1995) was a Swiss reportage photographer known for his evocative portraits and keen eye for capturing the essence of human experience. He traveled extensively but focused much of his work on the local communities in the Grisons region of Switzerland, particularly during World War II when travel was restricted. His black-and-white photographs of children and rural life reflect a deep empathy and understanding of his subjects. A recent exhibition in Braunwald showcases his powerful collection of portraits, bringing to light the lives and stories of those he captured through his lens.
