Emily Logan has been appointed as the first Police Ombudsman of Ireland, leading the new oversight agency, Fiosrú, which replaces the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (Gsoc) to handle public complaints against the police. With a background as the chief commissioner of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission and former Ombudsman for Children, Logan is set to enhance public confidence in policing oversight and promote human rights within the framework of the new Policing Security and Community Safety Act, 2024.
