Enrique Álvarez Córdova was a prominent Salvadoran political leader and president of the Frente Democrático Revolucionario, a coalition striving for democratic governance and social transformation in El Salvador. He was captured, tortured, and murdered on November 27, 1980, during a period of intense political repression and violence against dissenters, marking him as a martyr in the struggle for justice and democracy in the country.
