Eric Lamaze

Eric Lamaze is a Canadian equestrian who gained international fame as an Olympic champion, winning individual gold and team silver in show jumping at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Throughout his career, he faced significant challenges, including a brain tumor diagnosis in 2019 and previous doping violations that led to missed Olympic appearances in 1996 and 2000. Despite these setbacks, Lamaze continued to compete at a high level, earning a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. His achievements in the sport were recognized with his induction into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2021. However, his recent doping violations have resulted in a lengthy suspension until 2031.
