Erlan Shontabaev, a 39-year-old father of five from the village of Kuryk, tragically drowned in the Caspian Sea while heroically attempting to save three drowning vacationers. His courageous act occurred at a leisure facility near Aktau, where he heard cries for help and rushed into the water. Sadly, during the rescue attempt, he became entangled with one of the individuals in distress and both drowned. Erlan is remembered as a dedicated family man, leaving behind a wife and five children, the youngest being just three months old.
