Eróstrato is infamously known as the arsonist who set fire to the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, in an attempt to achieve eternal fame. His name has become synonymous with the idea of seeking notoriety through destructive actions, as he was ultimately punished by being erased from historical records, yet paradoxically became a figure discussed throughout history.
