
Ervin Gábor
Ervin Gábor was a Hungarian Catholic priest and teacher who became known for his courageous stand against the persecution of Jews during World War II. He was born in 1906 and became a priest in 1934. Known for his intellectual capabilities and deep compassion, he openly criticized the treatment of Jews and wore a yellow star in solidarity, despite it not being mandatory for priests. In December 1944, he was captured by the Arrow Cross Party, tortured, and executed by being shot into the Danube River along with his mother. His life and martyrdom exemplify profound moral courage, and he is currently being considered for beatification by the Catholic Church.
