Esther Ballestrino de Careaga was a prominent Argentine activist and member of the Madres de Plaza de Mayo, a group of mothers whose children were forcibly disappeared during Argentina's military dictatorship (1976-1983). She was known for her courageous advocacy for human rights and justice, particularly for the victims of state terrorism. Ballestrino was kidnapped and murdered in 1977, and her legacy continues to inspire movements for social justice and accountability in Argentina.
