Ethan Webster

Ethan Webster is a farmworker from Taranaki, New Zealand, who was convicted of the murder of Jacob Ramsay. Initially sentenced to life imprisonment in March 2023, his case has recently gained attention due to concerns regarding his mental capacity at the time of his guilty plea. Diagnosed with foetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) and other cognitive impairments, Webster's life sentence is set to be overturned as the Court of Appeal reviews the appropriateness of his punishment in light of these new assessments.
