Etienne de Souza

Etienne de Souza is a 38-year-old physician from Brazil, recognized for being among the top 10% of earners in the country. As a Black woman who ascended from a background of poverty, she represents a rare success story in a society where social mobility is challenging, especially for those from disadvantaged communities. Her journey to becoming a doctor was fraught with obstacles, including overcoming racial biases and financial hardships. Despite her accomplishments, she continues to face systemic racism in her professional life, serving as a family doctor in one of Rio de Janeiro's largest favelas.
