Evanildo Bechara

Evanildo Bechara (1928-2023) was a renowned Brazilian grammarian, professor, and philologist, celebrated for his contributions to the study of the Portuguese language. A member of the Academia Brasileira de Letras since 2001, he was known for his influential works, including 'A Moderna gramática portuguesa,' which has been a reference for educators and linguists alike. Bechara's academic career spanned decades, during which he mentored countless students and engaged in significant linguistic reform efforts. He passed away at the age of 97 due to multiple organ failure.
