Evgeniya Yanichits
Evgeniya Yanichits (1948–1988) was a prominent Belarusian poetess and translator, known for her deep emotional resonance and lyrical prowess. Born in the village of Rudka in the Pinsk region, she developed a passion for poetry at a young age, publishing her first works while still in school. She graduated from the Belarusian State University, where she studied philology, and went on to work for various newspapers and magazines, gaining recognition for her contributions to Belarusian literature. Vasily Bykov, a notable Belarusian writer, regarded her as the most talented of all Belarusian poetesses. Tragically, her life ended prematurely when she committed suicide in 1988. Her legacy continues to influence contemporary Belarusian poetry.
