Evgeny Doga, born on March 1, 1937, in Moldova, was a renowned composer celebrated for his significant contributions to music in the post-Soviet space. His diverse oeuvre spanned various genres, including symphonic and chamber music, as well as popular songs and film scores. Doga gained fame for his iconic melodies in movies such as 'My Tender and Gentle Beast' and 'The Tabor Goes to Heaven.' A recipient of numerous prestigious awards, he was honored with the title of People's Artist of the USSR. In his later years, he lived in Chisinau, where a music school and a street were named after him during his lifetime. Doga was also a vocal critic of Russian imperialism and participated in the 'Great National Assembly in Support of Eurointegration' shortly before his death. He passed away on May 21, 2023, at the age of 86.
