Fadel Shaker

Fadel Shaker is a Lebanese pop singer who gained fame in the early 2000s with hit songs that resonated throughout the Arab world. However, his career took a drastic turn in 2013 when he became involved with hardline Islamist groups, particularly during a violent clash between Sunni militants and the Lebanese army in Sidon. After being sentenced to 22 years in prison in absentia for supporting a terrorist group, Shaker spent over a decade on the run before surrendering to Lebanese military intelligence in 2023. His controversial shift from a beloved pop star to a militant figure shocked many of his fans and raised significant concerns about sectarian tensions in Lebanon.
