Farid Camilo Castaño

Farid Camilo Castaño is the mayor of Calamar, a municipality in the Guaviare department of Colombia. He has been in the news following a violent attack on his home, where grenades were thrown, reportedly by the ‘Armando Ríos’ group, a faction of the dissident FARC. The attack left one of his employees injured and resulted in the tragic deaths of his pets. Castaño has been vocal about the ongoing violence in the region, previously calling for greater governmental support and security in the wake of a recent massacre that shocked the community.
