Fatah al-Burhan

Fatah al-Burhan is a Sudanese military leader who has been serving as the de facto head of state since the ousting of long-time autocrat Omar al-Bashir in 2019. As the commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces, he has been a central figure in the ongoing conflict between the military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has resulted in significant humanitarian crises in the country. Al-Burhan has been involved in numerous negotiations for ceasefires amid escalating violence, particularly in the capital Khartoum and other regions.
