Faustin Nsabumukunzi, a 65-year-old man residing in New York, has been charged with concealing his involvement in the Rwandan genocide during his applications for U.S. citizenship. Prosecutors allege that while presenting himself as a victim of the violence, he played a leadership role in the genocide, including encouraging the killing of Tutsis and the use of rape as a weapon. He was previously convicted in absentia by a Rwandan court and had been living in the U.S. since obtaining refugee status in 2003.
