Federica Nicolardi

Federica Nicolardi is an assistant professor in papyrology at the University of Naples Federico II, where she leads a team of researchers in utilizing machine learning models to decipher ancient texts from carbonized papyrus scrolls recovered from Herculaneum. Recently, she contributed to a historic breakthrough in the Vesuvius Challenge, helping to reveal previously unreadable texts from the burnt scroll PHerc. 1667, which date back to the second or late third century BC and discuss Stoic philosophy.
