Filippo III

Filippo III, also known as Philip III of Spain, was the king of Spain from 1598 until his death in 1621. He was the son of King Philip II and is known for his patronage of the arts and for overseeing a period of economic decline in Spain. His reign was marked by a focus on diplomacy and the expansion of Spanish influence in Europe, particularly through marriage alliances. The gold coin minted in 1609, which is the subject of a recent auction, was created as a symbol of royal wealth and power.
