Fiona Umetsu
Fiona Umetsu is the founder of the Taiko for Carers group and the local Japanese arts organization Foyle Obon in Derry. She first encountered the art of taiko drumming while teaching English in Tokyo in the 1990s and has since dedicated herself to sharing this powerful form of expression with others, especially those in caring roles. Through her initiatives, she has introduced numerous local carers to the mental and emotional benefits of taiko, fostering a supportive community.
