Flavius Placidius Valentinianus
Flavius Placidius Valentinianus, known as Valentinian III, was a Roman emperor of the Western Roman Empire from 424 to 455 AD. Born in Ravenna, he was the son of Constantius III and Galla Placidia, daughter of Emperor Theodosius I. Valentinian ascended to power as a minor, with his mother serving as regent and the real power held by military generals. His reign was marked by significant challenges, including the loss of territories and increasing pressure from barbarian invasions. In 451 AD, he witnessed the Roman army's notable victory against Attila the Hun at the Battle of the Catalaunian Plains. However, his rule ended violently when he was assassinated in 455 AD, bringing an end to the Theodosian dynasty.
