Fouad Mbazaa was a prominent Tunisian politician who served as the interim president of Tunisia after the fall of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali's regime. Born on February 14, 1934, he had a long and varied career in public service, beginning under President Habib Bourguiba. Throughout his political journey, he held several key ministerial positions, including Minister of Youth and Sports and Minister of Public Health. He also served as Tunisia's ambassador to Morocco and was the mayor of Carthage from 1995 to 1997. His leadership during a tumultuous period of Tunisia's history was marked by his role as the interim president from January 2011 to December 2011, following the revolution. Mbazaa passed away on April 23, 2025, at the age of 91, and was honored for his contributions to the country.
