Fran Ramovš
Fran Ramovš (1890–1952) was a pivotal figure in Slovenian linguistics and played a crucial role in the establishment of the University of Ljubljana and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU). He was one of the first professors at the newly founded Faculty of Arts in 1919 and served as its dean and later as the rector of the university. Ramovš was the driving force behind the creation of the Institute for Slovenian Language, which bears his name, and significantly contributed to the organization of SAZU in the post-war period. His work laid the foundation for the systematic study and preservation of the Slovenian language.
