Francis Skaryna

Francis Skaryna was a notable 16th-century Belarusian humanist, physician, and one of the first printers in Eastern Europe. He is best known for his pioneering efforts in publishing the Bible in the Belarusian language, which significantly contributed to the spread of literacy and culture in the region. Skaryna's work laid the foundation for the development of the Belarusian language and literature, and he is often celebrated as a key figure in the early Renaissance in Belarus. Recently, a satirical article claimed he befriended Christopher Columbus and visited the New World, highlighting the playful nature of historical interpretations.
