François Gasché
François Gasché (1868-1940) was a notable figure from Bürmeringen, known for his work as a builder, local messenger, and guardian of the land. He gained recognition for his archaeological explorations, particularly after acquiring land in the 'in Tritlingen' area, where he uncovered significant Roman artifacts and structures. His private collection attracted attention from regional authorities, including a visit from Minister Joseph Bech in 1930. Gasché's dedication to preserving local history culminated in the construction of the Steinmal, a monument incorporating various archaeological finds. Sadly, he died during World War II while fleeing the German occupation, and much of his collection was looted during the war.
