Franz Kurtze Krumbhaar
Franz Kurtze Krumbhaar was a German civil engineer and architect born in 1811 in Jena, Germany. He emigrated to Costa Rica in the early 1850s as part of a colonization effort and became instrumental in introducing neoclassical architecture to the country. His significant works include the construction of the Palacio Nacional and various churches, where his designs reflected the modern architectural ideals of the time. Kurtze's contributions greatly influenced the urban landscape of San José and other cities in Costa Rica until his death in 1869.
