Franz Nopcsa
Franz Nopcsa (1877–1933) was a pioneering Hungarian paleontologist known for his groundbreaking work on the dwarf dinosaurs of Romania's Hațeg Basin. Often referred to as the 'father of paleontology in Europe', Nopcsa made significant contributions to the understanding of dinosaur evolution and biogeography. His discoveries in the late 19th and early 20th centuries revealed the existence of small dinosaur species, which were a stark contrast to their larger relatives found elsewhere. Nopcsa's keen observations and innovative thinking advanced the field, making the Hațeg region a focal point for paleontological research.
