Franz Stainhauser

Franz Stainhauser, now 89 years old, dedicated 42 years of his life as a speisewagen (dining car) waiter on European trains, becoming a symbol of the golden age of train travel. Known for his impeccable service, he catered to famous guests including world leaders and celebrities, and witnessed significant events in railway history, including the tragic Aitrang train disaster. Stainhauser's career began in 1960, and he became an Oberkellner (head waiter) on the prestigious Trans-Europ-Express.
