Freddy Mukuza

Freddy Mukuza was a 31-year-old rapper and activist from the Democratic Republic of Congo, known for his poignant lyrics that addressed the struggles faced by his community amidst widespread corruption and violence. A married father of two, he was trying to make a living as a motorbike taxi driver and was moving to a new home when he was tragically shot and killed by M23 rebels in a violent crackdown that resulted in multiple civilian deaths in Goma. His music often highlighted issues like unemployment and the plight of women in his country, making him a voice for the voiceless in a region plagued by conflict.
