Gabriel Moked

Gabriel Moked was a prominent Israeli author and literary critic, known for his influential role in Hebrew literature since the 1950s. Born Gabriel Munvez in Poland, he survived the Holocaust and immigrated to Israel in 1946. Moked co-founded the acclaimed literary magazine 'Achshav' and was recognized for his passionate advocacy for literature and culture. He edited numerous works by notable writers and held a position as a professor at Ben-Gurion University. His career was marked by both literary achievements and personal challenges, including legal issues related to his tenure as chair of the Hebrew Writers Association. Moked passed away at 92, leaving a significant legacy in Israeli literature.
